Developing Discernment: From Milk to Solid Food
Background on "Buttermilk"
I woke up one morning with the word "Buttermilk" on my mind. I believe the Lord spoke to me as I awoke to teach me a lesson on spiritual growth and discernment. Around this time, I had spent much time watching youtube videos on theological debate and apologetics. I believe the Holy Spirit had a message for me: to move beyond the basics and to the HEART / To stop disputing and focus on the Love of Christ
Additionally, the Holy Spirit brought Revelation 2 to my attention.
In Revelation 2:1–7, Jesus commends the Ephesian church for several things: Their hard work and perseverance Their discernment Testing people who claimed to be apostles Rejecting false teachings Enduring hardship for ChristBut then Jesus gives this serious warning:“Nevertheless I have this against you, that you have left your first love.”

The Ephesian church seems to have been strong in discernment and truth-testing, but Jesus warns that something essential had been lost: love. He tells them: “Remember therefore from where you have fallen; repent and do the first works…”
— Revelation 2:5
I believe this is a powerful warning: seeking deeper knowledge and spiritual truth should never become more important than loving Jesus and loving people.
A good principle might be: Seek truth deeply, but never let the pursuit of knowledge replace your first love. Paul himself gives a similar warning: “Knowledge puffs up, but love builds up.”
— 1 Corinthians 8:1And:“If I… understand all mysteries and all knowledge… but have not love, I am nothing.”
— 1 Corinthians 13:2That would make an excellent companion theme for your website: Seek the treasures—but never forget the One who is the treasure.
